Hello Fellow Readers,
The Press publishes a pictorial issue during Christmas week – few written words, simply photo highlights from their year of publication. While I enjoyed the deadline respite, I couldn’t let the week go by without posting for my followers online (Thank you for being my faithful readers!).
I thought you’d enjoy the view of Catfish Pond, Camp Mohican in Blairstown NJ, on Christmas Day. A day we woke to an inch of frosting not predicted. What a glorious surprise! The frigid temps added to the frosty feeling. Some of you know about my passion for the briskness of frozen nose hairs and squeaking snow, especially while grabbing a glide on cross country skis. While not enough snow to ski, there was plenty to relish.
As I glanced over to Ellie exploring the coast of Catfish, I noticed enchanting formations on the frozen lake. I looked more closely and saw in the etchings what looked to be an island of trees. A magical landscape.
The miracles of nature.
Peace amongst the trees…

Dear Mary, (#3)
This photo is most interesting. Is it a tree growing in the Pond or a reflection???
Hope you had a happy Christmas and that the New Year will be Wonderful in all ways!!!
Lots of love, Mom J.
Hello Mom J, The “trees” are formations made from the ice on the pond. Amazing art of Mother Nature! She’s so clever… ;^) Happy New Year to you too. Much Love, Mary
HAPPY NEW YEAR, DEAR FRIEND!
I wish The Press were still delivered with the mail, because I don’t always get to the stores in time to pick one up.
Hello Diane, I know, its sad they cut back on the cost of mailing copies. I’d love you to follow my weekly column by signing up to receive an email alert of each new post (one a week). The sign up (and I never share emails) is on the bottom of the home page https://askmarystone.com/ Thanks so much! Mary
