Parsley Surprise

I finally finished my Fall cleanup. I know, it’s Spring. But you know how things get away from you; then the snow came and covered the evidence of my garden neglect.

Look what I uncovered – my Parsley made a comeback! I’m tickled pink. (Not sure why tickling makes you pink… or who came up with that saying…) No doubt the leaves made a blanket that then the snow encrusted. The surrounding rocks helped contain the warmth too.  True, they’re year-two parsley plants and will quickly go to seed but you betcha, I’ll keep pinching the flower stalks and try to grab some of the parsley before it goes to seed and turns bitter. Gardening can be so forgiving. Thankfully!

Mary Stone, owner of Stone Associates Landscape Design & Consulting. As a Landscape Designer, I am grateful for the joy of helping others beautify their surroundings which often leads to sharing encouragement and life experiences. These relationships inspired my weekly column published in THE PRESS, 'Garden Dilemmas? Ask Mary', began in 2012. I dream of growing the evolving community of readers into an interactive forum to share encouragement and support in Garden and Personal Recoveries - seeking nature’s inspirations, stimulating growth, weeding undesirables, embracing the unexpected. Thank you for visiting! Mary
